  • Overview

    The primary purpose of the Product Packer Associate is to fill customer orders in a manner that meets Company standards for safety, security and productivity. This individual is responsible for the completeness and correctness of all orders filled. He/she will participate in stock, stock rotation and general housekeeping in the Warehouse.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Hand pack bags of product as they come off the production line.
    • Package or hand fill product into cartons, cans, bags and specialty containers.
    • Assemble and label boxes, and bags.
    • Load empty cases in case packers.
    • Inspect products, product bags and cases of products for defects and proper seals; proper codes, dates, package weigh and close finished cases or containers.
    • Alerts supervisor of any problems found during package inspection.
    • Must meet production quality and quantity goals.
    • Re-packs / re-works items as necessary.
    • May be required to hand pick defective product on production lines.
    • Clean and sanitize plant and plant equipment, including packaging machines, walls, floors, kettles, etc. • Must wear proper personal protective equipment for performing each duty.
    • Must adhere to all safety and SQF (Safe Quality Food) procedures, training sessions, and be committed to working to these standards.
    • May be requested to temporarily cover Packer work assignments in other areas of production based on business demands.

    Qualifications

      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Must possess a stable work history with good references.
      • Strong work ethic.
      • Ability to read ingredient listings, use by dates and the ability to examine quality for freshness and appeal.
      Ability to work with others, follow direction and comply with procedures

The individual will occasionally be required to sit and climb or balance. The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.

     

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Temperatures vary seasonally in the Warehouse and are typically very warm in the summer months and very cold in the winter months. Lighting varies but is typically ambient. The individual will frequently come into contact with tools and utensils necessary to prepare the items for shipping.

     

    Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
