  • Overview

    The primary purpose of the Receiver is to oversee all receiving and facility maintenance operations. This individual will oversee department personnel. This individual is responsible for ensuring that we comply with internal financial controls, exceed all safety and sanitation requirements and meet Company objectives.


    1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of the position and Company policy
    2. Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy
    3. Manage staff in a manner consistent with Di Bruno Bros.’ Servant Leadership philosophy by maximizing productivity, customer service and Associate satisfaction
      1. Conduct employment interviews, performance appraisals and administer rewards and discipline as necessary
      2. Orient and train Facility & Maintenance personal in property and department rules, policies and procedures
      3. Coach and motivate Associates to foster ongoing development and help them reach their potential
      4. Ensure compliance of Associates with established policies, procedures and practices
    4. Responsible for overall direction, coordination and execution of shipping and receiving operations
      1. Ensure compliance with all operational procedures
      2. Maintain security of the receiving dock and rear entrance doors
      3. Interface with store Team leaders, Specialists and Accounting personnel on all receiving-related matters
      4. Maintain proper receiving procedures, including the verification of accuracies and temperatures of product entering and leaving the facility
      5. Maintain vendor relations and effectively communicate Company expectations
    5. Responsible for  managing inventory procedures in the warehouse
      1. Ensure inventory is accurate and rotated using FIFO procedures
      2. Identify opportunities in the facility to improve on overall efficiencies and maximize facility space to fullest extent
      3. Ensure that all federal, state, local and Company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitations and weights and measures are met
    6. Responsible for overall direction, coordination and execution of facility and custodial maintenance
      1. Ensure that store standards for cleanliness and sanitation are met
      2. Maintain adequate stock of cleaning supplies, store supplies and equipment in an organized manner
      3. Coordinate all physical and mechanical repairs with Store Management 
    7. Responsible for routine inspections to identify operational, mechanical, physical and safety issues
    8. Additional duties as assigned


    • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of receiving, shipping and facilities experience, preferably within a management or assistant management role or equivalent combination of education and experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
    • Working knowledge of BR Data or comparable inventory / POS system
    • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, vendors and fellow Associates
    • Ability to effectively manage a department, train and cross-train staff
    • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
    • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
    • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to move or handle product and supplies throughout the store
    • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business

    The performance of this position requires that the individual come into contact with the public, vendors and co-workers. The individual will need to work both inside the building, in the receiving area and outside when dealing with vendors and deliveries. The temperature inside the building is typically ambient, with lighting and as in a typical retail store. The receiving area changes with the seasons and can be very cold in the winter and very hot in the summertime. Floors may be slippery.


    Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
