    We have a great opportunity for an energetic Category Analyst. The Category Analyst develops, recommends and executes an approved strategic plan for up to 10 categories, depending on size and complexity. He/she is a business expert with an acute awareness of the Di Bruno brand, the specialty food industry, the competition and the marketplace. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of specialty foods and the Di Bruno brand.  The analyst will also conduct ongoing data analysis, scorecard development and weekly/monthly updates combined with up to 10 hours per week on sales floor to obtain employee and shopper feedback to inform, track and diagnose progress to category goals.




    Strategic Planning and Financial Performance

    Assists in the creation and implementation of a strategic plan for assigned categories in support of the overall business strategic plan

    Conducts analyses to determine category performance and drivers to take action at store level

    Responsible for managing dollar sales and gross margin of assigned categories to achieve / exceed company goals.

    Creates communications, training and informational links between merchandising, retail stores, DBI warehouse and the Marketing department


    Vendor Relationships

    Strategically reviews existing vendor base to optimize product, cost and the strategic plan

    Creates positive relationships with all vendors to ensure favorable contracts; pricing and promotional support

    Works with vendors to leverage specific product, category and industry knowledge


    Assortment Planning & Pricing

            Core and seasonal product assortments

    Retail price optimization and balanced price architecture

            Continuous evaluation of current assortments, category and segment trends




    Creates in-store promotional and external marketing strategy to support category plans

    Works with operations and marketing departments on execution

    Conducts post event analysis to determine success and additional opportunities


    Inventory Control

    Partners with retail locations to maximize inventory turns and creates planograms to optimize sales

    Provides operations with information and guidelines to optimize on hand inventory


    Additional projects and duties may be assigned






    BS degree, preferably in marketing / business / retail merchandising or equivalent relevant experience

    Food industry experience preferred

    2 – 4 years category management experience with responsibility for businesses $1M+

    Ability to create actionable reports from sales data

    Experience in using financial and mathematical analysis skills to enhance business decision making

    Proven ability to identify current and upcoming trends for assigned categories

    Proven ability to assist in the design and execution of plans that result in business growth

    Hi level of initiative and independent judgement

    “Can-do” attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities

    Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

    Excellent vendor relations and contract negotiations skills

    Excellent interpersonal and team skills with all levels of the organization

    Proficient in Microsoft office; including excellent excel skills

    Expertise with BR Data preferred
