  • Overview

    The primary purpose of the Steward / Utility Associate is to provide basic support to culinary operations under direct supervision. This individual is responsible for providing friendly, courteous and helpful customer service.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy
    2. Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
    3. Participate in receiving and monitoring stock
    4. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices
    5. Communicate any customer special requests to management
    6. Communicates with coworkers and management to solve problems and improve quality and service
    7. Clean, mop, sweep and dust facilities as necessary
    8. Receives, stores and distributes supplies
    9. Cleans, washes and polishes equipment
    10. Change light bulbs and other miscellaneous tasks
    11. Assist in making minor repairs on equipment and facilities
    12. Clean and store dishes, equipment and small wares
    13. Occasionally prepare and/or package simple foods
    14. Make pickups and deliveries for within and outside of the Company
    15. Additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • No prior experience required
    • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and fellow Associates
    • Ability to read, write and count
    • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
    • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store
    • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business

The individual will occasionally be required to sit and climb or balance.

     

    The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    The performance of this position requires that the individual come into contact with both co-workers and the public. Knives and special utensils must be used in order to prepare products for sale. This individual will come into contact with various cleaning agents necessary for the performance of job duties. For the most part, ambient room temperatures and lighting are found as in a typical retail store.

     

    Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
