The primary purpose of the Meat & Seafood Associate is to assist Di Bruno Bros. customers within the Meat & Seafood Department. The Meat/Seafood Associate is responsible for following all store and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines and for ensuring that we exceed customer expectations.


  1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy
  2. Greet all customers enthusiastically and give them 100% focus while they are in the Meat & Seafood Department
  3. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices
  4. Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
  5. Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, test merchandise and advertisements
  6. Maintain quality standards and ensure that all products are of the utmost quality; assist in conducting continuous inspections and testing of all products to ensure that Company standards are met
  7. Assist to ensure that all federal, state, local and Company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitation and weights and measures are met
  8. Maintain merchandising and presentation standards
  9. Ensure that all items have signs and are priced correctly
  10. Maintain the highest level of standards in product display and preparation
  11. Initiate suggestive selling and sampling of products
  12. Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise
  13. Participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock
  14. Communicate any customer special requests to management
  15. Communicates with coworkers and management to solve problems and improve quality and service
  16. Additional duties as assigned


  • At least one year of experience and/or training in the Meat & Seafood industry in a similar position
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and fellow Associates
  • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business

While performing the duties of this position, the Associate is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The Associate is required to stand for the majority of their shift and will frequently be required to walk or stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The Associate will occasionally be required to sit and climb or balance. The Associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 25 pounds.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The performance of this position requires that the Associate come into contact with both co-workers and the public. Special machinery, including sharp items, must be used in order to prepare various products for sale. For the most part, ambient room temperatures and lighting are found as in a typical retail store.


Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
