Overview

The primary purpose of the Specialty Team Leader is to maintain responsibility for the operation and financial results of the Specialty Department.  The Team Leader will train and manage department personnel and supervise/coordinate all related retail activities.  This individual is responsible for ensuring that we exceed customer expectations, develop our Associates and meet both Company and departmental objectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of the position and Company policy
  2. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, evaluation and financial results of the Specialty Department at Di Bruno Bros.
  3. Manage staff in a manner consistent with Di Bruno Bros.’ Servant Leadership philosophy by maximizing productivity, customer service and Associate satisfaction
    1. Conduct employment interviews, performance appraisals and the administration of rewards and discipline as necessary
    2. Provide orientation and training to Specialty personnel in departmental and Company rules, policies and procedures
    3. Provide ongoing EATT training to Specialty personnel and oversee implementation
    4. Responsible for scheduling Associates to ensure high efficiency, labor within budget and a timely check out for guests
    5. Coach and motivate Associates to foster ongoing development and help them reach their potential
    6. Ensure the compliance of Associates with established policies, procedures and practices
  4. Responsible for inventory control and ordering food/supplies for the Specialty Department
  5. Monitor department budgets and payroll including COG, labor and expenses
    1. Develop and execute strategies to reduce supply expenses
    2. Ensure adherence to cash handling guidelines
    3. Take corrective action as necessary to meet all sales and profitability objectives
  6. Maintain presentation and quality standards in the Specialty Department
  7. Conduct continuous daily inspections and testing of all food products to ensure that company standards are met
  8. Ensure recipe compliance with regular checks
  9. Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance by coordinating scheduled and preventative maintenance

  12. Ensure that all federal, state, local and Company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitation and weights and measures are met
  13. Work with Chefs to develop and execute marketing and promotional strategies
  14. Assist Chefs in menu planning and tracking product movement
  15. Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-3 years in a culinary management role
  • Ability to process information/merchandise through computer system and POS register system
  • Ability to communicate with customers and fellow Associates
  • Ability to effectively manage a department, train and cross-train staff
  • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
  • Experienced in ordering, inventory maintenance and shrink control
  • Ability to move or handle product and supplies throughout the store
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business

The performance of this position requires that the individual work in an enclosed area with co-workers. For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and fixtures are found as in a typical retail store. The individual will frequently come into contact with utensils necessary to prepare the items offered in the Center Island, including sharp tools such as knives and slicers. Floors may be slippery.

 

Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
