Overview

The primary purpose of the Cheese Team Leader is to maintain responsibility for the operation and financial results of the Cheese Department at Di Bruno Bros. The Team Leader will train and manage department personnel and both supervise and coordinate all related retail activities. This individual will use their advanced knowledge of our products to educate customers about all cheese products available at Di Bruno Bros. This individual is responsible for ensuring that we exceed customer expectations, develop our Associates, and meet both Company and departmental objectives.

 

Our Cheesemongers are fiercely dedicated to discovering and spreading the good word of cheese. As a monger, you’ll have the ability to show off your creativity and pioneer innovative cheese pairings. If you choose to study shoulder to shoulder with our mongers and become a Certified Cheese Professional, Di Bruno Bros. will support you on your quest to cheese mastery.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy
  2. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and financial results of the Cheese

Department at Di Bruno Bros.

  1. Manage staff in a manner consistent with Di Bruno Bros.’ Servant Leadership philosophy by maximizing

productivity, customer service and Associate satisfaction

  1. Conduct employment interviews, performance appraisals and the administration of rewards and discipline as necessary
  2. b. Provide orientation and training to Cheese personnel in departmental and Company rules, policies and procedures
  3. c. Responsible for scheduling Associates to ensure high efficiency, labor within budget and a timely check out for guests
  4. Coach and motivate Associates to foster ongoing development and help them reach their potential
  5. Ensure the compliance of Associates with established policies, procedures and practices
  6. Ensure that all federal, state, local and Company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitation and weights and measures are met.
  7. Maintain presentation and quality standards in the Cheese department
  8. Conduct continuous daily inspections and testing of all product to ensure that

Company standards are met

  1. b. Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance by coordinating scheduled and preventative maintenance
  2. Creative merchandising, including the building of effective displays
  3. Responsible for inventory control and ordering for the Cheese department
  4. Monitor department budgets and payroll including cost of goods, labor, and expenses
  5. Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise
  6. Participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock
  7. Communicate with Senior Management to solve problems and improve quality and service
  8. Responsible for Sign compliance on the department
  9. Responsible for overall department in-stock position including cross merchandised items from other departments
  10. Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3 years in cheese retail
  • Highly developed working knowledge of various cheese groups, families and pairings
  • Ability to effectively manage a department, train and cross-train staff
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Experience in inventory, ordering procedures, shrink control and vendor relations
  • Ability to communicate with customers and fellow Associates
  • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, both verbal and written
  • Ability to incrementally impact sales in a positive manner
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business.
