The primary purpose of the Upstairs Cafe Associate is to assist Di Bruno Bros. customers within the Upstairs Cafe Department via suggestive selling, cashiering and order delivery. The Upstairs Cafe Associate is responsible for following all store and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines and for ensuring that we exceed customer expectations.


  1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy
  2. Greet all customers enthusiastically and assist with any questions or needs
  3. Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.
  4. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices
  5. Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
  6. Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, test merchandise and advertisements
  7. Maintain quality standards and ensure that all products are of the utmost quality; assist in conducting continuous inspections and testing of all products to ensure that Company standards are met
  8. Assist to ensure that all federal, state, local and Company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitation and weights and measures are met
  9. Maintain merchandising and presentation standards
  10. Ensure that all items have signs and are priced correctly
  11. Maintain the highest level of standards in product display and preparation
  12. Initiate suggestive selling and sampling of products
  13. Assist in processing and replenishing food/products
  14. Communicate any customer special requests to management
  15. Communicates with coworkers and management to solve problems and improve quality and service

Additional duties as assigned


  • At least one year of experience and/or training in the food industry
  • Ability to process information/merchandise through computer system and POS register system
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and fellow Associates
  • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business
