  • Overview

    The primary purpose of the Specialty Associate is to assist with the operations of the Specialty department. As a primary contact for Di Bruno Bros.’ customers, this position is responsible for ensuring that we exceed customer expectations and meet Company objectives.


    1. Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of Company policy
    2. Assist to ensure that all federal, state, local and Company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitation and weights and measures are met
    3. Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, test merchandise and advertisements
    4. Maintain the highest level of standards in product display and preparation
    5. Sell specialty (non-perishables and produce) products
    6. Initiate suggestive selling and sampling of products
    7. Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise
    8. Participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock
    9. Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices
    10. Communicate any customer special requests to management
    11. Communicates with coworkers and management to solve problems and improve quality and service
    12. Assist with cashier and coffee duties  
    13. Additional duties as assigned


    • One to three years of equivalent experience
    • Ability to think critically
    • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and fellow Associates
    • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation
    • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
    • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store
    • Ability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business

    While performing the duties of this position, the Associate is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The Associate is required to stand for the majority of their shift and will frequently be required to walk or stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The Associate will occasionally be required to sit and climb or balance. The Associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds.


    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    The performance of this position requires that the Associate come into contact with both co-workers and the public. Special machinery, including sharp items, must be used in order to prepare various products for sale. For the most part, ambient room temperatures and lighting are found as in a typical retail store.


    Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut and wheat.
